Buying firewood at a grocery store, gas station, or hardware store looks different then buying it directly from a firewood store.
What does it mean when we say; cord, stack, piece, kindling, or hardwood chunk?
Cord
128 cubic feet or about 4 feet high, 4 feet deep, and 8 feet long
Stack
Roughly 75 pieces
Piece
A singular piece of firewood
Kindling
Thin pieces of wood used to start a fire
Hardwood Chunk
A large piece of wood, typically used for smoking or grilling
We also sell wood in 1/2 cord 1/4, and different sized stacks; large, medium, or small. What you see typically sold at stores is a bundle, which contains around 4-6 pieces of firewood, which is a a lot smaller than our small stack (25 pieces).
We hope that helps explain firewood vernacular.
